The results for JEE Mains exam 2017 was declared on April 27 by CBSE on their official website. The exam was conducted both in offline and online mode. The offline (pen and paper) mode was conducted on 2nd April while the online (computer based) mode was conducted on 8th and 9th April. In the JEE Main 2017 examination around 10 lakh, students appeared in 109 cities from over 2000 Centers in India and abroad. The cut-off for JEE advance is unexpectedly low this year. This year the cutoff for the general category is 81, for the OBC category is 49, for the SC category is 32 and for the ST category is 27, for the PWD category is 1. Among the successful candidates, 79.2% are boys and 20.8% are girls. 

Aspirants had the option of appearing the JEE in any one of the two types of papers or both.

  • Paper – I is for BE/BTech courses
  • Paper – II is for B Arch/Planning

Detailed Analysis of papers:

1. Paper – I:

  • The question pattern for the Paper – I BE / BTech courses in 2017 was similar to the question pattern of 2016.
  • The paper had 3 parts as A, B, C in which MCQs for Physics, Mathematics, and Biology were present. Each subject has an equal number of questions i.e. 30 of equal weightage.
  • The marking scheme was such that, for each correct answer four marks would be given, for each incorrect answer, one-fourth of the total marks allotted to the question would be deducted from the total score.

   2. Paper – 2:

  • There were 4 sets of the question paper – Code W, X, Y and Z.
  • The paper consisted of 390 questions in total and it had 3 parts as Aptitude, Mathematics, and Drawing. Aptitude section had 50 questions of 4 marks each, Mathematics section had 30 questions of 4 marks each and Drawing section had 3 questions.
  • In drawing section, the questions were subdivided into question 1a: 20 marks; question 1b: 20 marks; question 2: 30 marks.
  • The marking scheme was as given, the two drawing questions were of total 70 marks, rest all were of +4 and -1 marking.
